HDR blended images, used in the Essential Listing and Signature Coverage packages, combine multiple exposures of the same scene to brighten rooms and capture details, producing clear, professional photographs. They are ideal for smaller or medium-sized properties, giving a polished look efficiently, though colours may not be perfectly true to life.
Flambient images, used in the Showcase Finish package, blend professional flash lighting with ambient (natural) light to produce crisp, colour-accurate photographs. This technique requires extra time on location, as I walk through each room taking multiple flash exposures of the same composition to ensure every corner of the room is correctly balanced for light. These images are then blended together in post-production. The result is a highly accurate representation of paint colours, furniture, fabrics, and décor, making it perfect for premium or high-end properties where precise presentation is essential.
Both techniques produce professional images, but Flambient is a premium approach, involving more time and careful attention to detail to ensure your property is showcased at its absolute best.

I cover the entire Scottish Highlands. For longer journeys, clients may be asked to contribute to travel expenses, which I always communicate upfront. There are no hidden charges or extra fees.

While I’m happy to make small adjustments on the day, the property should be clean and styled appropriately before I arrive.

If the weather decides to be typically Highland on the day of your shoot, don’t worry, I’m happy to reschedule to the next available date. That said, as a professional photographer, I use expert editing and professional lighting equipment to make sure your photos are bright, well-lit, and appealing, even on the most dreary days. Scottish weather won’t stand in the way of great shots!

Our Sky View package is available as an add-on for £85, and includes up to five aerial images to showcase your property’s exterior and surroundings. -
I carry out minor edits to improve image quality, such as colour correction and straightening lines, to ensure your property looks its best. However, I don’t digitally remove permanent features like neighbouring buildings, road signs, or boundary fences. It’s important that the images remain a true and honest reflection of the property and its setting, so as not to mislead potential guests or buyers.

Standard turnaround is 3-5 working days for HDR packages and 5-7 working days for Flambient shoots, depending on property size and optional add-ons.

Prepare Your Property for Photography
Preparing a guesthouse, B&B, or holiday let for photography requires careful planning and an eye for detail. One of the most frequently asked questions during consultations is:
“Is there anything we should do before the photography session?”
To help answer this, I’ve created a guide with key recommendations and best practices to ensure your property is presented at its very best for promotional images.
By following this guide, you’ll ensure your accommodation is shown at its very best, helping your photographs attract more bookings and strengthen your overall presentation.
-
Being prepared goes beyond the day of the shoot. If you’re a new business and this is your first set of promotional images, it’s important to ensure your property is truly camera-ready. First impressions matter. Rushing to promote before the finishing touches are complete can lead to additional shoots and unnecessary costs.
-
Make sure the way your property is presented reflects your overall marketing goals. Whether you’re aiming for a cosy coastal retreat or another theme entirely, check that the furnishings and room setups support the desired atmosphere. These images may represent your property for years to come, so consistency is key.
-
Decluttering is one of the most valuable things you can do before a shoot. This is especially important in B&Bs where daily use can lead to personal items being left out. Tidy away cables (charging leads, TV wires, lamp cords) and unplug anything unnecessary. Clean chrome taps, metal sinks, and internal glass surfaces such as shower screens to a high standard.
-
Show off the unique aspects of your property, whether that is architectural character, landscaped gardens, or special guest amenities such as a kitchen garden or lounge. Make sure these areas are clean, well presented, and ready to be photographed.
-
Furnish each room to feel warm, inviting, and in keeping with your brand. Fresh flowers, throws, and cushions can add charm, but try to avoid clutter. Too many personal items can distract from the space itself.
-
Let us know about any extra services or complimentary touches you offer to guests. If they are included in the photos, make sure they are well presented and of a high standard, as these images will represent your offering for a long time.
-
Outdoor areas matter just as much as interiors. Mow lawns, clear any litter, and clean outdoor signage. If your property boasts a lovely view or special outdoor features, make sure they’re ready to shine.
-
Think about what sets your property apart: breathtaking views, bespoke interiors, or exceptional hospitality. Make sure these qualities come across in the photographs. Your goal is to inspire potential guests to imagine themselves there.
-
While I focus on capturing your property in the best light, some clients like extra support with staging or styling. For professional guidance, I recommend Helen Longmuir, an experienced interior designer and colour consultant with over 25 years’ experience working with private clients, estates, and holiday homes across the Scottish Highlands.
Helen specialises in creating visually appealing spaces that photograph beautifully, including colour schemes for period homes and holiday lets. You can view her portfolio and get in touch at: helenlongmuir.co.uk
